Elizabeth Bakalar, 87, died on Feb.9, 2013. Born in Stratford, Conn., and a resident of Vista since 1988. She is survived by husband Thomas, daughter Nancy, stepson Kenneth, stepdaughter Susan, 6 grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Viewing will be on Feb. 15 from 4-8 PM at Allen Brothers Mortuary in Vista. Funeral will be on Feb. 16 at 10 AM at the United Methodist Church of Vista.

Elizabeth enjoyed traveling with her husband Thomas and even drove cross-country 4 times to Conn. She used to belong to to the National Association of Insurance Women, was on a bowling league, liked arts and crafts, cooking, baking and going to the casinos. She was a wonderful grandmother and was always concerned about her grandchildren's well-being. She loved her sisters and brothers, and talked to her sister Mary Anne everyday. My mother always remembered our birthdays and anniversaries with a card which made us all feel so special. Every celebration that we had, my Mom was apart of it. Her last celebration was her 87th birthday which we had at our home on Feb. 3. We will miss her sweet smile, words of encouragement and constant love. We loved her so much and she will remain in our hearts forever.
